Box Vale
Sunday, 14 September 2008
The Box Vale track follows the cutting once used by a coal train. The path takes us through the old tunnel marked with old and more recent graffiti. Throughout the early part of the day, we were threatened by the clouds above, and it was not until we were half-way down a treacherous and slippery slope that it decided to rain hard. The group split up here, some deciding do go back, while the rest of us continued down.
I do not regret the wetness, as it took us through some very beautiful rain forest growth down to the base of the forty-foot falls. A tough slog back up the hill had us craving a hot soothing drink which we got at a cosy cafe up top.
All in all, a great day as the photos suggest.
