Born on the Island of Mauritius and based in Perth WA, GERARD
MAUNICK is a SONGWRITER/VOCALIST/GUITARIST that brings with him a multitude of
Music, Colours and Rhythm.
MAUNICK sings in English, Mauritian Creole
and French, delivering a diverse blend of Blues/Roots/Reggae/Funk with Island
Creole Overtones where Vocal Melodies and Soul Guitar direct the many
Nuances.
He creates a different 'ingredient' in almost every song and
his guitar has many moods. There's an accent on Gerard's voice that sometimes
goes straight through you like a force of nature, a God-given gift as some may
say, the ability to strike a chord, giving you goose-bumps. GERARD MAUNICK is a
songwriter, a master of melody, a guitarist extreme with rhythm.
After a
successful 2001 'SOUL KREOL' CD launch, MAUNICK generated interest from the
east coast of Australia with an invitation to perform at The Great Southern
Blues & Rockabilly Festival in Narooma, delivering a cultural experience
with his style of 'SOUL KREOL Blues'.
Blues at Bridgetown 2001 saw
GERARD MAUNICK and Band play two strong shows. The highlight of the festival
was a bonus memorable performance with the West Australian string ensemble
conducted by the legendary 'Ashley Arbuckle' from the London Philharmonic
Orchestra.
2002 started with appearances at the Australian Blues
Festival (Goulburn) NSW, preceded by an intensive tour of the eastern states
with master keyboardist Bob Patient and an all star band.
November 2002
brought MAUNICK and his band back by popular demand, headlining the Blues at
Bridgetown Festival which also featured Seychelles Island Vocalist TINA-SIMONE.
The band was received with a huge response! The pair also entertained the
crowds with two special 'duo' performances which had the audiences mesmerized.
TINA-SIMONE's deep and alluring Creole vocals were energized by the melodic
sounds of MAUNICK.
2003 took the two performers around the country towns
of our vast state of Western Australia, during which time GERARD was inspired
to write new material, extending his musical direction and performing live with
a tight bass and drum line-up and leading TINA-SIMONE into co-writing Creole
song 'Angelina'.
September 2003, GERARD MAUNICK captured his sound at
Anarchy Recording Studio, laying down 10 tracks for the new album 'Voodoo
Brew'. "I wanted the band to step out and not to play safe" states
MAUNICK. "It's a wonderful feeling to be able to shift in different gears
knowing that the band is there with me just as strong and just as
free".
February 2004 kicks off the release of his 'Voodoo Brew' CD
with MAUNICK headlining at the Augusta River Festival and returning to Perth,
performing at various venues for the following two months.

2005 - 2006 DUO GERARD MAUNICK &
TINA-SIMONE Gerard Maunick and his Creole songsteress Tina-Simone, have
a unique approach to their musical expertise. Tina-Simone's exotic presence,
vocal capabilities and percussive perfection, gives Maunick the room to breath
and lose himself, as he delves deeper into his 'awesome and intoxicating'
guitar playing....."
Tina-Simone has been working and touring with
Maunick since 1997 and can be heard singing harmonies and playing percussion on
both of Maunicks c.d.'s. (T.S. also performs their original (Creole) song,
'Angelina', released on Maunicks award winning album 2004 - VOODOO
BREW).
Gerard and T.S. have enjoyed working as a DUO for the past 12
months, (giving the band and road life a short rest) focusing the music towards
fresh sounds, a solo guitar, rhythmic bass/percussion and songwriting.......
I've been playing a-lot of acoustic (guitar) at home and coming up with new
material, say's Maunick. It's been good to try them out 'LIVE' with just T.S
and myself.
The couple have captured our romantic side, ....as you watch
them perform with ease. Their fans are ageless (This was obvious at their
out-door gig). No matter what age you are, you just know 'class' when you hear
and see it and without any doubt, Gerard Maunick and Tina-Simone are just
that!!!

02/05/2004 Probably the best description I could give you of Gérard
is that if Jimi Hendrix & Bob Marley came back in the form of one person,
that person would be Gérard. I have rarely met anyone with the love of
music & people that Gérard has. A truly wonderful & talented
guy, who plays like a demon, just amazing.
