‘HAVE A SALMON GOOD FRIDAY’

The National Anglers Lobby (NAL) has called on anglers nationwide to show their ongoing support for the continuing fight against imported fresh and frozen salmon products by purchasing from their local supermarkets Australian atlantic salmon in recognition of Good Friday.

Supermarkets nationally have endorsed their continuing support for the NAL campaign by not selling imported fresh or frozen salmon products.

National Anglers Lobby are calling for the community to demonstrate their support by purchasing local product and thereby assisting to keep potentially diseased imports out of Australia.

This Good Friday appeal to consumers of salmon is the first time that such an awareness day has been set in place nationally, and will demonstrate the existing concerns in the community towards the introduction of foreign pests and diseases.

NAL has developed this initiative so that in a positive way the angler and consumer can register their solidarity by purchasing local product for Easter.

National Anglers Lobby are currently having discussions with authorities and agencies in Canberra in order to develop an education and awareness campaign to inform Australian’s about potential threats from imported food, bait, or berley products.
