On the 24th November 2000 we received notification from Dana Young (email danay3@bigpond.com ) that Australian authorities may allow Australian food to be irradiated.

This is the first time in Australia that such contamination of our food may be allowed by authorities and public submissions were allowed by 6/12/2000.

A company named Steritech Pty Ltd had applied to irradiate herbs, spices, nuts, oilseeds and tea.

FOOD FASCISM (27/11/2000)

Attached is an 8-page submission to Steritech Pty Ltd's Application A413 to irradiate food (with an extra page to use as a petition). If you are opposed to the introduction of food irradiation technology, and nuclear proliferation, please make a submission. The attached submission was prepared by anti-nuclear activist Matty Smith and myself and has been endorsed by Dr Helen Caldicott. Post to the address on the top left of submission to arrive no later than 6 Dec deadline.
