Jees that was a good setup. I haven't been around much but I haven't seen another skydiving organisation run so hard and fast. One of the partners that ran it is Garry Myors - a bit of a diverse character who'll have a go at anything, and do it properly. He's now running the EAGLHAWK DIVE CENTRE.
Anyway, a bit of his past has come back to haunt him. There's many types of competitive activities in skydiving and one is to see who can land closest to a target in a sawdust covered patch on the gound. That patch of ground is referred to as the pit, and the target practice thing is called "accuracy".
Garry's mother told him "Now don't play with the vegies" ... and what did he do? He came to Tassie and not only played with them but tried to teach them a bit of skydiving, and later on get them to have a go at some of those skills, like accuracy.
Now you wouldn't think he'd have to specifically explain to anyone that before they aim for the pit, they should get the parachute out of it's bag ... to sort of slow them down a bit as they come in. Take a look at this photo. I bet Garry never expected he'd be digging up vegies.
