Peter Watson was born in New Zealand where he trained as a Joiner before coming to Western Australia.

He has always worked with wood and taught himself woodcarving before becoming a professional woodcarver in 1989. His wood skills make his carving very flexible, his commissions ranging from architectural carving on pipe organs, furniture and signs, to carving in the round.

His carvings have been sold to numerous private collections around the world.

He is also a skilled teacher and has taught at the School of Wood at Dwellingup and the University of Western Australia Summer School.
