Ray Wills' Perth Page |
I've had a number of people - especially kids - from outside Australia write to us and ask about Australia.
I've put the following together to explain a bit about Australia - they're mainly links to other sites put together by people who have done a good job without me reinventing the wheel, so read on!!
I live in Perth in Western Australia

Here's a mud map of Australia!
Australia has had a lot of people come looking for it starting with the first aborigines, who arrived in Australia between 120,000 and 50,000 years ago (more info here), and including a lot of Europeans - check here to here a lot about explorers from around the world including those who came to and travelled across Australia.
The people in Australia aren't all that different to people elsewhere.
Kids watch TV shows from the US (can't escape it I'm afraid) like Disney and Sesame Street (made in America) and Bananas in Pyjamas (made in Australia)
We have the same sort of breakfast cereals made by Kelloggs, and the same sort of fast food outlets like Pizza Hut and MacDonalds.
Its the plants and animals that live here that make Australia really different.
For plants like banksia and kangaroo paws - flowers that look like a kangaroo's paw!
and animals (like the kangaroo and koala bear)
