Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, near Poperinge

ljcem.jpg (58961 bytes)

A sea of headstones.

The second largest British war cemetery after Tyne Cot. More Australians (1,131) are buried here than anywhere except Tyne Cot.

All those buried here are known by name because they died of wounds after being taken from the battlefields and treated at the various hospitals or dressing stations in the area.

Gallipoli VC winner Major Tubb is buried here.
