Tony Blackmore is a retired, fairly senior citizen who returned to Melbourne in 2010 after 10 years in WA. He lives in Brunswick because his two sons live there and he and his wife enjoy the local lifestyle.
Retired people have plenty of time to do things and he has become very familiar with the "Strip" by walking and taking notes.
Others who do the tour will make the assessment he has made. The station surrounds are unplanned and sterile, the easement through which the rail travels is a weed infested mess, and the footpaths of adjoining streets are in poor condition.
It is only recently (Feb 2012) that he has been introduced to the Brunswick Structure Plan.
