These are all older, with various kinds of technical deficiencies, hopefully to be
replaced in the near future.
- Odyssey 12:1-54, with video translation
- Odyssey 12:154-158
- Odyssey 12:154-200; The Sirens:
Some portions of this (near the very end for example) seem to me
to be 'overpulsed', by which I mean that there is too much increase
in volume on the ictus beats,
which are supposed to be implemented more by increased length than
- .wav (mpeg 3 compression, 2.03M)
- real audio.
(doesn't always work, such as across 56K modem connection)
- Odyssey 19:509-535; Penelope's Grand Whinge:
The subjective conviction that there is a melody that can be
done 'right' is especially strong here for me, I wonder if this
isn't related to the reference to the nightengale.
Older version, done with $10 mic:
- Od 11:150-203 ; O's questions to his mother,
and their answers (mpeg 3 compression; 1.60MB)
- Iliad 1.1-7; Iliad proem
(mpeg 3 compression; 204KB) new Jul 19, 2002.
There's actually a substantial error here (involving timing); perhaps
you can find it.
- And an uncompressed
version of the above, about 5M, for people who want to analyse
it with Praat or other tools.
