Frosty Morning in Bavaria, Cycling down the Danube River Valley Sep-Oct 2002 A 10-day cycling trip down-river from the source of the Danube. Camping in the paddock right next to a Bavarian pub. The night before an old couple had insisted on paying for all my drinks in the beer garden :-) . A few hours later it was a fine cycling day. The bicycle was on loan from my father, his retired 'go-to-the-pub' and 'shopping' bike. 3 gears all up, made life quite easy: 1st gear for starting and uphill, 2nd most of the time, 3rd with tailwind & downhills. None of this confusion about which of my 21 gears to use that I have with my steel horse in Oz.
