- schools should have no problems

- getting involved may make the situation worse
- students exaggerate bullying situations/ students are not to be believed
- students need to change

REACTIONS
- emotive
- take sides
- blaming
- punitive
PRACTICES
- involve school psychologists/ pastoral staff in individual referral only
- treat each situation separately from its context
- punish the bully
- advise or blame the victim
- use a limited number of strategies
