before. Everyone had the answer sheets and only had to quess
which answer was correct.
The winning team was an all female team which
spanned three generations. After twelve rounds of questions,
two mastermind rounds and two celebrity photo identification
sheets, two teams were tied on 70 points each. It took a three

COMMUNITY OPEN DAY, STALLS AND CAR BOOT SALE
Our Community Open Day at the
Phil Renkin Recreation Centre at Two Rocks
was another great success although dampened a little by
some unseasonal rain. A good crowd enjoyed the various
activities and some people picked up some great bargains.
Its was good to see lots of children enjoying
the Magic Show by Buttons the Magic Clown.

demonstrations, displays, 24 different stalls, food,
face painting, play dough for the littlies, a
mini 5-a-side junior soccer game and DJ music.
It was a great opportunity for local Clubs and
Community Groups to showcase their activities and do some
fund raising.

The Yanchep Two Rocks Recreation Association's
2002 Australia Day Breakfast at the
Phil Renkin Recreation Centre was bigger and better than
previous years. For the first time, an
Australian Citizenship Ceremony was held and Community Awards
were presented.
The Community Awards recognise individuals and community
groups who have contributed to and been outstanding in the
district. There are two categories of awards: 'Citizen of the
Year' and 'Community Group of the Year'.
Following the traditional Flag Raising Ceremony
and National Anthem, 484 locals and visitors tucked
into a great, free, Aussie breakfast. Activities included
attendees marking their place of birth on a map of Australia
or elsewhere in the world. It was very interesting to see where
we all came from. Entertainment included great music by the
WA Challenge Brass Band, Wayne Dekker (from the Yanchep National
Park Aboriginal Heritage program) playing the didgeridoo and
Wozzo the Clown for the littlies.

by Councillor Terry Loftus and presented by the Mayor of the
