A good crowd of about 110 people partied
in the New Year at the
Phil Renkin Recreation Centre in
Two Rocks on a balmy Friday New Year's Eve.
Kathryn Kyle and the JJ Quartet provided a
great mix of music that got the locals and visitors
singing and kicking up their heels into the New Year.
A number of lucky revellers scored some
nice raffle and door prizes.
Everybody reflected on the tragic Boxing
Day tsunami in Asia and South Asia during a respectful
minute's silence early in the evening and over $300 was
raised through cash donations and the sale of CDs
generously donated by Kathryn Kyle.
Thanks once again to those who helped prepare
the light supper and also those who helped with the set up
of the hall and clean up afterwards.
-
A great crowd of about 300 people came along and joined in
the Christmas Spirit by singing along to the Carols at the
annual, local Carols By Candlelight at the
Phil Renkin Recreation Centre on a warm Saturday evening
in December.
Elves Deirdre and Bill Fleming MC'd the evening which included
an opening prayer led by Father Francis and performances by the Yanchep District High School Choir and the
Wandoo Singers, supported by organist Marion Ferguson. Glow
sticks and bracelets added to the mood of the evening and Santa
distributed little bags of lollies to the children.
Tea, coffee, cordial and biscuits were provided
as refreshments.
The Association thanked Ken, Maureen, Theresa, Eric, Maisie,
Bill and Gerome for helping with the setting up and clearing up
afterwards. Their efforts, along with those of the MC's, performers
and all the men, women and children who came along and participated,
made this another wonderful
local community event.
-

What a great idea for a cold Saturday night
