The following events, listed in reverse chronological
order (i.e. latest first), were organised or supported by the
Association in 2006:

A good crowd of about 100 locals and visitors came
along to rock the New Year in and roll 2006 out on a warm
New Years Eve at the
Phil Renkin Recreation Centre in Two Rocks.
Kathryn Kyle and Niteshift entertained and provided great
music for the high-spirited crowd. It was a really great
night and everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
A light supper, tea and coffee were
provided.
The Association would like to thank those
who helped set up the hall and prepare the supper and also
those who stayed on afterwards to clean up including
especially Ivan and Dianne.

A large crowd joined in the spirit of Christmas at the annual
Carols by Candlelight on a windy Saturday evening in
December.
Kathryn Kyle, the Free Spirits Choral Choir and
the Yanchep District High School choir
provided entertainment on the night.
Santa arrived during the second half of the evening
with treats for the children
Coffee, tea, cordial and
biscuits were provided FREE after the last carol.
The Association's thanks go to
Kathryn Kyle and the choirs and to those who helped set
up and clean up afterwards.

A good crowd of about 1500 came along and witnessed the
Two Rocks Blessing Of The Fleet and enjoyed
a range of activities and entertainment on a beautiful,
warm Sunday in November.
It was a great family day.
The day's proceedings were kicked off with a parade
led by King Neptune who handed out sweets for the children.
City of Wanneroo Mayor Jon Kelly then welcomed
all those in attendance.
The Blessing of the Fleet was conducted
jointly by Jon Spurgeon (Sun City Church) and Peter Maiden
(Presbyterian Church). After the blessing ceremony, some
people enjoyed boat rides provided by members of the fleet.
Entertainment during the day included:
singer Kathryn Kyle;
Dans Ez Studio Dancers; a Fire/rescue demonstration; a
Renegade Linedancers demonstration and join-in;
the Free Spirits Choral Choir; a Poetry reading by Mark
and at the end of the day, a
demonstration by the Fire brigade.

Activities included: FREE Face Painting;
FREE Bouncy Castle; FREE Craft Activity;
Lions Train and a Fire/Rescue Demonstration.

Two Rocks Fish N Dive;

A free breakfast at the
Phil Renkin Recreation Centre in Two Rocks was enjoyed
by about 50 invited volunteers on a cool Saturday morning
in September.
This annual breakfast was initiated and
organised by the Yanchep-Two Rocks Recreation Association to
acknowledge and thank the many volunteers that we have in
our area.
After welcoming and thanking the volunteers in attendance
local Councillor Terry Loftus introduced Miss Margaret Cockman
as the guest speaker. Margaret, who grew up in the Yanchep area,
has led a very interesting, full and fulfilling life involved
in and holding honorary office bearer roles in many, many
local voluntary/community organisations. Her personal
experiences and commitment were great inspirations to the
volunteers present.
The Association would like to thank those
special volunteers who helped with the set up, the cooking
and the clean up afterwards.

A good crowd of about 120 thoroughly
enjoyed the
Red,
Blue &
White
themed Hoedown at the
Phil Renkin Recreation Centre
on a cold Saturday night in August.
The Hoedown was jointly organised by
The Renegade Linedancers
and
The Yanchep-Two Rocks Recreation Association.
The great variety of dances included
"Have a go" dances for beginners.
Raffle, Door and Spot prizes were
appreciated by the lucky winners. A light supper, tea and
coffee were provided.
The Hoedown was a community fund raising
event with part proceeds going to the
Yanchep Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service.
Thanks to those who helped set up including
preparing the supper and those who helped clean up afterwards.

A good crowd enjoyed a great
night out with heaps of fun and prizes galore at the
annual Quiz Night at the
Phil Renkin Recreation Centre, Two Rocks on a cold
Saturday night in July.
This year's quiz night was again held
'Millionaire' style. A table of
Renegade Linedancers won the quiz from two tables
that tied for second place. With prizes based on scores and
other spot prizes, everybody won something.
Many participants also picked up great
bargains in the Silent Auction which was conducted during the
night.

Altogether, 78 local children aged
between 6 and 14 years were entertained, educated and thoroughly enjoyed
a range of activities organised for them during the first week
of the July School Holidays.
The activities included chocolate making,
Fire and Rescue, cooking, craft, Karate and Origami.
Each activity lasted approximately two hours.
These programs were provided by local businesses and
community groups.
The workshops were made possible with
funding through the Capricorn Village Joint Venture
community grants program.
The Association would like to thank
everyone involved in this year's School Holiday Workshops
including the
Country Women's Association,
Yanchep Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service,
Shuhari Karate and Kobudo,
Chocolate Drops and the
Yanchep Community Centre for taking the bookings.

A good, lively crowd attended and
thoroughly enjoyed the Rock N Roll Dance at the
Phil Renkin Recreation Centre in Two Rocks on a mild Saturday
night in May.
People of all ages, from
youngsters to some very active senior citizens, rocked the
night away to lots of great music
provided by Bruce and Robyn.
A light supper with tea and coffee provided
some refreshment for the active rock and rollers. Some were lucky
enough to win Door and Raffle prizes.
Thanks to those who helped with setting up
the hall, preparing supper and cleaning up afterwards. Your
efforts helped make this another
great community event.

A good crowd attended the Association's Community Open Day at
Charnwood Oval, Two Rocks on a rather warm Sunday in March.
Entertainment was provided by Kathryn Kyle and
the Yanchep Choral Choir.
Activities for children included
a Bouncy castle, face painting, the Lions Train and
Wozzo the Clown.
There were craft activities, cake stalls,
jams/preserves, Carp kite making and raffles.
There were also demonstrations by the
Renegade Linedancers,
Shuhari Karate and Kobudo,
Kisamra Belly Dancers and the
Yanchep Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service
as well as information stalls for other local community groups.
Food and drinks were also available.
Thanks to the groups and individuals who participated and
those who helped set up and clean up afterwards.

A large crowd attended the Association's annual
'Aussie Day' Breakfast at the
Phil Renkin Recreation Centre in Two Rocks on Thursday 26 January 2006
and enjoyed:
- a hot breakfast;
- chocolates, flags and stickers for the children;
- the presentation of well deserved Community Awards; and
- great entertainment for young and old;
ALL FREE
Following the National Anthem, more than 600
local residents and visitors tucked
into a great 'Aussie' breakfast with a choice of bacon, eggs,
sausages, baked beans, tomatoes, juice, coffee/tea and toast.
The fifth annual Yanchep-Two Rocks Recreation
Association Australia Day Awards were presented after the
'Aussie' Breakfast. The Community Awards recognise individuals, community
groups and youth who have contributed to and been outstanding in the
district.

Entertainment included great music and
singing by Pete Robson as well as
a Bouncy Castle for the littlies.
An army of local volunteers set up, cooked, and
served breakfast and washed dishes including many members of the
Yanchep District Branch of the Country Women's Association.
Some people also stayed on to clean and pack
up afterwards. Without all of these dedicated volunteers this function
would not be such a great success.
