SeniorsPrime Movers
every Thursday at 10.00am at the Phil Renkin Recreation Centre in Two Rocks. For the past eight years, Prime Movers have been running a very successful class in Two Rocks. Every Thursday morning an enthusiastic crowd of happy exercisers gather in the Phil Renkin Recreation Centre where, for an hour, we quite literally move to music. Under the watchful eye of our fully qualified instructress, Primrose, we do marching, stretches, huff and puff, muscle work and once a month we do floor exercises. Members use weights for part of the time and occasionally elastics. The atmosphere is light hearted and there is much fun and laughter. Members are encouraged to keep to the tempo of the music but at the same time to work at their own pace until they are happy with what they are doing. Our 2006 classes start on Thursday 9th February at 10.00am and new members, both men and women, will be very warmly welcomed. Come along and give it a go - you will probably know most of the members anyway so certainly won't feel a stranger. There is an annual subscription of $5 and we pay $3 every time we attend a class. Prime Movers is a non profit organisation with over 60 classes and 4000 members in the Perth metropolitan area. The Yanchep-Two Rocks Seniors Association was formed over twenty years ago to provide a centre for the Seniors to meet. There is a choice of playing cards, Bingo, Scrabble or carpet bowls. Membership is open to any person over 55 years of age. We meet for social bowls only on Wednesdays and Fridays between 9:00 AM and 12 Noon. We also meet on Mondays (except Public Holidays) from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM for all the games listed above. Currently, the annual membership fee is $6.00. In addition, each attendance costs 50 cents ($0.50) which includes the provision of tea/coffee and biscuits. Our Entertainment Officer organises occasional outings for a meal at various places of interest. There is a fee for each of these trips, but the Association usually subsidises it by about 40%. The Community Bus is available to bring people in for the Monday meeting, picking up in St. Andrews, Yanchep Lagoon and Two Rocks and return. Our Annual General Meeting is held on the second Monday in February each year. |
