Valda Dixon – Darwin / Katherine Region

Artist Biography:

Valda has been painting acrylic on canvas for 17 years, and paints often with other Nangala women at Lajamanu in the Tanami Desert. Valda received traditional training from her grandmother, mother and father. Valda is an Arts Coordinator trainee at and founding member of the Warnayaka Art and Cultural Centre where she has worked since 1994. She recently participated in “Footsteps 2007” exhibition in Brisbane where she showed her work and undertook marketing and exhibition training. Her work is sold through galleries in Darwin and Katherine.
