ADELAIDE
RIVER CAMPDRAFT
2nd August 2009
Campdraft consists of six head of cattle in a 'camp' (small arena).
The competitor has to cut only one beast out, they must get the beast
to the front of the camp. Once the competitor has the beast up front
they must block and turn the beast a few times to show the judges they
have control of the animal. The rider then calls for the gates to be
opened. The competitior is required to draft the animal in a figure
of eight before guiding it through a gate. The campdraft is complete.
All this in under 45 seconds !
Up to 200 competitors from all over Australia compete in our Campdraft
with attractive prize money and great atmosphere of the Adelaide River
Show.
