WATER - an ongoing series of large canvases, inspired by the place names of coastal sites in Western Australia, such as Sanctuary Cove, Lucky Bay, Safety Bay, Desperation Point...
These artworks muse on the cultural and spiritual significance of the ocean for Australians, and what it means to be an island nation, girt by sea. The boundariess of this island home remain contested, more often delivering arrivals desperation than sanctuary. |
