This image shows two faces one above each other. The top face is of a woman with an emu totem symbolized by emu tracks running from her face at the centre. The lower face is within a landscape representing the spirit of mother-earth with a full moon rising over a desert landscape. I wanted to talk about the connection that all totems have to mother earth and how the environment is sending Indigenous people messages of warning and stress. Through totems, Aboriginal people become keenly aware of the condition of delicate ecosystems and the danger posed by global exploitation. |
