Graus and Makinson Family Photo Albums
Family History
My father, his father and grandfather came from a small town called Echt which is in Limburg, Holland. My great grandfather, Theodore Hubertus Graus (1863-1936) at least for a period, lived in Maastricht, in Limburg, and served as Chief Inspector of Police according to police archives. Photographic records and past conversations with my father, Theodore Louis Graus (1925-1990) led me to believe that he (ie. my father) was born in Merauke in what is now Papua, New Guinea and later moved to Holland but I have no documents detailing his place of birth.
The latest generations of Graus's from my fathers branch of the family were born and now live in Perth, Western Australia. My research tells me that we probably have no close living relatives from my fathers family left in Europe.
Here is a link to all of the detail I have gathered about my family. Since beginning my research into my family's history, I have been in touch with several other Graus families. Strangely, two that I know of come from Echt in Holland, the same town as my fathers family. One of those families has a web page called the Graus Family Genealogical page (offline temporarily ?). There does not seem to be a recent link between our families but I am sure you will notice the similarities in naming traditions in the families.
I have also been in touch with a second member of a Graus clan from Echt who has sent me a detailed genealogy of a third family of Graus's from Echt. I have taken the unusual step of documenting the genealogy of that family as I am sure there is a link between us all. I would really like to know the origins of my family and the Graus name plus any linkage anyone can supply to other related European families. The Morin Family and their family details have also been included in the genealogical data base. The Morin family is French with perhaps some Flemish in previous generations.The Makinson family is the last part of the equation. The Makinson's originated in Southport, in the north of England and their ancestors appear to have been in that area for many centuries. Some of the family, including our grandparents moved to Ottawa, Canada and still live there. Still another branch moved to Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) but have now moved to South Africa.

Here are some photos of my family, the Graus family, dating back to the beginning of the 20th Century. Theodore Louis Graus had four sons and a daughter. Three young Graus boys and three Graus girls are the latest descendants of my fathers branch of the family. My two sons and daughter are all pictured in the following page.

Another Graus Family
Here is a detailed history of another Graus family from Echt in Holland. You can see that the common use of the names Theodore and Hubertus is similar to my family. Also, Echt is not a large town and Graus is not a common name. Logically there should be a link between all three families mentioned on this page.
Background - Morin Family
The Morin Family is from France and originated, we believe, from Britany in the west of France. We in Australia know little else (at this time) about the family's origins.
Here are some photos of Catherine's family. Some of the photos that we have reproduced here are very old and do not have any information with them detailing who is the photo. We have therefore "best guessed" the names of the people concerned.
