Jan ...began painting with oils in the ‘80s in Sydney and was told by her teacher Judy Adams,
who was impressed with her progress, to never give up painting. After a break from painting due to studies and life’s intrusions,
Jan took up the brush again in 2002. Since then Jan has enjoyed being taught drawing skills by Josh Gregson initially,
and then acrylics and pastels by Peta Miller. Jan has won awards in the Melville Community Arts Association awards (2009)
and also in the MetroChurch Community Arts awards (2008). Jan says, “I have always been very aware of beauty in nature in all its
forms and my passion is to record this in some way to inspire others. My hope is that my paintings will bring about a sense of peace and ease by those who pause to study them.
Perhaps even draw the observer into the little story about that particular scene.” |
