Kerrie studied Fine Art in the 60s but it wasn’t until her family grew and she moved from the east to the Pilbara that art once again dominated her life. As an executive member of the Hedland Arts Council she thrived on being actively involved in the art community. Her works from that time evoke the geometry and amazing colours of the Pilbara’s stark environment. In 2006 Kerrie moved south and found a change of perspective - no more red Pindan soil. Perth, with its green scapes and water domination, channelled Kerrie’s work in a different direction. She was awarded First Prize in the Cossack Art Award for North West Landscape in 2008 and has been highly commended by Betty Churcher and Mark Norval in past exhibitions. Kerrie works predominately in acrylic on large canvasses but dabbles in oils and enjoys pencil and pen and ink drawing. Kerrie's website www.kerriesims.com and email is kerriesims@westnet.com.au
