Ruth was born in New Zealand where she spent most of her life. At school, art was her strongest subject. Her first job was Ticket Writing ( Display signs and Graphics).
Ruth attended evening classes and weekend workshops when available. She also attended a University Extention Course on Modern art which opened her eyes and changed the direction of her thinking. She no longer found pleasure painting NZ scenes, but was into a different world and entirely new concept of art. She revelled in colours-shape-textures-brush strokes-new techniques and media.
Like most artists who come to Australia from another country, Ruth is still amazed by the clarity of vision the light and the space in this vast country.
