Shirley's enthusiasm for painting can be infectious. She delights in painting and capturing the essence of a scene on site. She is passionate about
light and shade, colour and form and delights in what she calls playing with paint.
Her interests are many, but her focus is on painting landscapes, streetscapes and portraits, mostly in acrylics, as she loves the immediacy and
flexibility of the medium. She also works in oil, and enjoys its buttery consistency and richness.
Shirley has traveled to Europe which has provided her with new opportunities to learn and paint.
She regularly participates in group exhibitions in Perth and is a member of several art groups.
Her works are held in public and private galleries in Australia and overseas. Her recent solo exhibition was well attended and supported (sold 20).
She is planning her second solo exhibition in December 2005 this year, following an Artist-in-Residence stay in Italy.
