Yesterday was the first day of term 4 and it was somewhat chaotic, culminating in the opening of the exhibition "Family Affair" with a range of beautiful artworks from Pam Lockwood and her niece, Aimee Howard. ![]() Pam teaches "Watercolour Landscapes" (on a Monday night or a Saturday morning) and of course you can see some of her own traditional landscapes in this exhibition. She also has some bright colourful abstract acrylics on canvas which look sensational in the gallery. Alongside these are the exquisite figures of Aimee Howard - hard to believe she is only 18 years old!
This must-see exhibition is only on for a week so call in
and see it soon - it finishes at 4pm on Sunday Oct 18. |

The depth and the artistic talent of members of Victoria Park Centre for the Arts will be on show for three weeks at Atwell Gallery. This is the return exhibition in the exchange series Creative Connections. The exhibition opens on Tuesday 22nd September at 6.30pm.
by Jill AnsellWith at least four award winning artists with nearly twenty awards between them this is definitely an exhibition to be savoured and appreciated. From the dramatic large works by David Giles to profoundly serene yet powerful abstract pieces by Alan Diggin. From complex and sophisticated works by Carolyn Thompson and Carolyn Griffiths that demand our closer attention… to the extraordinary and highly evocative sculpture by John Garoza and the rich and luscious painterly paintings by Carolyn Thompson, Susan Mitchell and Di Hathaway. From the suggestive and redolent portrait piece by Bev Rhodes to the gripping and mythological work by award winning artist Jill Ansell. From the delicate and refined works by Sandy Tippett, Carmen Cilliers and Narelle Manser-Smith to the striking photographs by Anna-Mair Francis and Aaron Tippett. From the beautiful and exquisite hand made paper collage by award winning artist Mutsuko Bonnardeaux to the magnificent and eye catching contemporary sculpture by John Richard Jones…. this whole exhibition provides a feast for the eyes and takes the viewer on a highly sensual and wonder filled journey into the artistic world and minds of seventeen accomplished but very different artists. |
