Tribes is a computer game that I spend far too much time playing.
It is a first person shooter, where unusual physics, and the addition of jetpacks for everybody leads to the phenomenon of 'Skiing'. This allows players to move down hills and such like gaining vast speed, which then propels them across the map.
My tribes name is Zustiur.
I had moved on to Tribes 2 for quite a while, but loyalty to my clan (which was recently revived) dragged me back to Tribes 1. Switching games in this manner has opened my eyes to just how many differences there are between the two games.
Some key differences are:
In T1 the turrets generally aren't that big of a deal. In T2 they can be very deadly. Coupled with the increased difficulty of destroying turrets in T2, this makes a huge difference to the game play. The factors are as follows:
T1: Turrets aren't that hard to kill really. And they're not too accurate.
Turrets are more accurate in T2. Making chaingun a less attractive option.
Mortar is less accurate - making the turrets harder to kill.
The missile launcher is added, making the turrets extremely easy to kill, and making everyone carry flares, further removing the chaingun method (as it relied on grenades, mines and chaingun simultaneously).
The flares are added making the missile launcher 90% useless.
Shocklance is added, making multiple shots at a turret with a mortar impractical to say the least.
Result: nigh on indestructible turrets.
