A brief history: The teaching and preaching ministry of our church is based on and adheres to the Word of God, the Holy Scriptures. This is further defined in a system of doctrine that is found the great Confessions that came out of the Reformation period: Heidelberg Catechism, Belgic Confession, Canons of Dort, and Westminster Confession. All ministers of the Word, elders and deacons, and other teachers in the church are expected to uphold the teaching of Scripture as summarised in these Confessional Standards. The public worship of the church is based on God speaking to His covenant people through His Word and Spirit and the people responding. Thus we have a dialogue where God greets His people, assures them of His grace in Christ, reveals Himself in His Word and speaks to the needs of His people, and the congregation responding to God in faith, prayer, song, giving, and pledging service and obedience. |
