Digital Rights Management and the Online Music Experience  

This research is investigating the influence Digital Rights Management has on people’s online music experience, taking a cultural view of a new generation of users in a changing digital music environment. To do this, the relationship between technology use, business strategy and the wider societal context is explored. I will explore the online music experience from a user perspective, discussing the various motivations, attitudes and practices of people listening, sharing, collecting and downloading music over the Internet. The findings will contribute to the design of new digital music delivery services that are culturally, ethically and socially acceptable.
