The Pioneer SA-400 is a little integrated tube amplifier. It's got 3 12ax7 (1 for each channel of the phono stage, 1 for the output stage) and 4 6bm6 for the output.
Picked up this little amp at a hock shop bout a year ago for AU$50 (US$25). Was missing a few screws, was a bit dirty, only had 3 of the 4 feet, one channel didnt work and the other channels phono pre didnt work.
Havent yet been able to find any screws for replacements, but when i do i might replace them all cause the unit has obvioulsy been apart before, and all the screws are burred.
The metal cover stays off at the moment, cause its got no screws. It a bit rusted and buckelled, nothing a bit of panel beating and a coat of paint wont fix. The front pannel has a big scratch across it and some of the print is worn off (particularly around the knobs). Once its fully operational, i might buff the scratches off and get it reprinted.
It's got 4 feet now, pinched them off an old blown sansui i salvaged for parts.
When I tested it in the store, one of the channels didn't work. I noticed that the output valve on that channel didn't light up. Hoping it just wasn't seated right, i used this fact to drive the price down. Pulled the valve out popped it back in again and switched it on ... and presto.
The phono stage on the other channel works but is noisy and makes popping noises (didn't check the phono stage when i bought it). I'm hopping after all the electros are replaced she'll work again. Until then, the valves have been pulled from the phono stage.
