Bushi Kempo Ju Jitsu is a system of Self-Defence developed in the UK by Dave and Chris Hand.
The system has been taught in Australia since 1992 – unlike many styles of Brazilian Ju Jitsu, Karate, Tae Known Do and Judo – Bushi Kempo is NOT competition orientated.
The art of Ju Jitsu varies with the system, Bushi Kempo is unique in so far as it adapts to the individual rather than the individual having to adapt to the art – it marries itself to an individual’s strengths and build – utilising an attacker’s speed, strength and momentum to their disadvantage.
Bushi Kempo is practical, versatile and easily used in any situation; skills are easily developed with practice, in a fun and friendly training environment.
It is suitable for all ages and aptitudes, it develops skills, fitness, cognitive thinking, hand /eye co-ordination – it is often referred to as "the thinking man’s / woman’s Martial Art,"
Training in a friendly yet disciplined and carefully structured manner rewards an individual’s self-advancement through technical ability and application, in particular, the system helps everyone whether child or adult to develop co-ordination and self-control whilst inspiring confidence, a sense of self-worth, self-respect as well as having a positive attitude and healthy respect for others.
Thousands of children and adults have enjoyed the challenges and rewards of training in the Bushi Kempo system.
We are a family orientated club and encourage family groups to participate in training.
Parents are welcome to participate along with their children and be involved in something together. It is our very strong belief that whilst self-defence is a serious matter, training should be undertaken in a friendly and fun environment.
Our children's classes are designed so that basics are taught amongst games and fun activities.
This has proven to be a very successful pattern of teaching; with children consistently improving in self-confidence, self-respect, coordination, and most importantly staying happy young children.
Discipline and Respect go hand in hand with the Bushi Kempo ethos and even though our students are encouraged to pursue these qualities by their endeavours, it is done so with understanding, patience and a smile.
Our training methods can be formulated to suit anyone’s needs.
