Gamelan Angklung (or Handbells)


This category is deliberately labelled ‘gamelan angklung’ because ‘gamelan’ does not just embrace the metal tuned percussion which are a familiar part of Indonesian gamelan orchestras, but also ‘gamelan angklung’, orchestral ensembles of tuned bamboo rattles. If you don’t have access to angklung suggested alternatives include hand-bells and individual chime bars. The four songs embrace all pitches from ‘C’ through to high ‘C’ which means everybody gets a turn! These are explained in the lesson plans
