These outlines are offered to encourage creative thinking among you and your students, rather than to set any prescribed process in place. Within
the website Hyperlinks
offer internal support for a project but I recommend students seek
solutions from as many sources as possible. These should include libraries – not only the
school’s but
community libraries as well, internet
searches
– with the qualification that these are reputable. Don’t forget
the
most valuable resources of all, people
with experience or expertise in a particular musical area. The
spin-offs from inviting their participation are infinite!
While class and group work is to be encouraged it seems there will always be individuals with a passion for a focus that nobody else wants to pursue! Thus you might encourage free choice both of process and presentation, wherever appropriate. Obviously it’s of critical importance that the experience of learning be as integrated and intercurricular as possible. Nevertheless every project ought to grow from the musical experiences involved. These might include creating, rehearsing and performing music as instrumental, vocal, and in other media, learning about music, recording music – in memory, on paper, and via technology. |
