GERALDTON, GOSNELLS AND BUNBURY TRIALS
HELD IN AUGUST
GERALDTON TRIAL:
I did not attend this trial but a very delighted Debbie Hyde rang with the results of the Utility Class judged by Judy Tsalkalos. The winner of this class was the lovely working Border Collie Betterbe My Starman UD ET handled by Debbie, the win gave this pair their Obedience Champion Title, only the third dog in Western Australia to have attained this honour and the second Border Collie. Debbie said that the out of sight Down stay were the longest 10 minutes that she has ever done!!. 'Cody' is the son of Obedience Champion Borderfame Tri-Star UD AD. Well Done the pair of you.
GOSNELLS OBEDIENCE TRIAL:
Held at Lumen Christi College in Gosnells. This is a great venue and triallists are very lucky to have the use of such beautifully kept grounds. We had a good entry in all classes and dogs and handlers are really putting together some excellent rounds with dogs being very attentive.
NOVICE JANUARY JUDGED BY BRIAN PRATT: Saw Elaine Hogg handle her daughters German Short Haired Pointer Brulana Not Again Lady into 1st Place with a score of 191 points. 2nd on a countback was H Daisleys Standard Poodle Kim. With 3rd and her CD title Kylie Munyard with Sugargum Fort Jackson ET.

NOVICE JULY JUDGED BY JILL HOUSTON:
Judges comments: The standard of work overall was very good, with all competitors showing excellent sportsmanship.
First place in this class on an excellent score of 192 was Ellen Lismanis with her German Shepherd Sheba also gaining her CD title.2nd place was a lovely young German Shepherd dog and a real stylish worker Iccara Freeway handled by Aaron Palmer. 3rd place and a super round for this pair and gaining their CD title was Emma Smith and her Australian Kelpie Major AD, excellent achievement see you in Open.
NOVICE COMPETITION JUDGED BY VALETA PETHRICK: If you enjoy watching heelwork this is the class that has to be the one to watch. A testing pattern set by the judge which included fast pace around the figure of eight posts. All dogs worked well and scored very highly. 1st Place was Aaron Palmer and Lucy CD a German Shepherd scoring 197 points. 2nd went to Sue Creedy-Mckeig with her Border Collie Cleveland scoring 193, with both Kismet Sabriver CD a Shetland Sheepdog and Sekal Bobby Bobtail CD a Border Collie scoring 191.
OPEN JANUARY JUDGED BY PAT MCKENNA: I did not see this class, but Pam Scurlock was grinning from ear to ear after winning the class with Tioman Jacob CD a Border Collie scoring 191 points.
OPEN JULY JUDGE VALETA PETHIRCK: Work in this class was excellent produced a really nice round with super retrieves and good heelwork scoring 198 points and top score in Trial was Sandi Gee and golden retriever cross Lara CDX ET. One point behind with great work was my Golden Retriever Mhadaidh Doggy Dancer CDX AD. And in 3rd on 196 was Gina Neumann with her lovely German Shepherd Iccara Basic Instinct CDX ET.
UTILITY CLASSES: Both Utility classes were won by Poodles, in the July section Gina O'Keefe with Obedience Champion Luftdastra Kiri put in a polished performance scoring 194 points. In the Utility January the winner was Helen Whites Standard Poodle Kimari Flashy Surprise CDX. Flashy Surprise is a new dog into the Utility ring and Helen was very happy with her win and qualifier. 2nd Place and another handler with her first qualifier in this class was Kane CDX a German Shepherd dog handled by Debbie Keogh. Well done girls.
BUNBURY AND DISTRICTS DOG CLUB
Utility Class: Judged by Frank Waring
Always a difficult class to work the pressure was really on today for Sue Hogben and her Golden Retriever Torrevean Moon Spinner UD a qualifying score of over 185 points would mean his Obedience Champion title. Well the round was worked very well by this pair with some lovely signals and scent work, and a they not only qualified but won on a score of 191 points. Also gaining her first qualifier for this class was Gerda Velvelt with her Australian Cattle Dog Jessy CDX. Good work both of you.
Open Class: Judged by Frank Waring
Giving Sue the double today was Torravean Moon Spinner UD taking out the Jenny Keeler Highest Scoring Dog Trophy gaining the win and a score of 196 points, good work and a lovely drop on recall. 2nd was Sandi Gee with Lara on 193 points.
Novice Class: Judged by Jill Houston
Some dogs and handlers having a go at their first trial found the ring situation a little daunting, better luck next time. Our winners however did a good job and the judge commented on the excellent handling of the winning dog Iccara Nonesuch a German Shepherd dog handled by Gina Neumann scoring 192 points. In 2nd place and gaining her CD title was another German Shepherd Silver Brook Silver Raine handled by Fay Morgan.
To all that passed congratulations, for those in WA remember that in the month of September we have the State Obedience Trials as well as preparing for the Royal Show, fingers crossed and see you there.
