My name is Kath Budzinska and I am a qualified Midwife, practicing since 1984. My main experience is in delivery suite and parent education, both in the public and private hospital systems. I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant since 2002. I am currently working at Nickol Bay Hospital in Karratha on a two week rotational basis - two weeks in Perth. I am employed as a Midwife and Lactation Consultant.

I trained in New Zealand at Auckland Technical Institute as a Comprehensive Nurse and qualified in 1981. I studied Midwifery at A.T.I. in 1984 and initially worked at Middlemore Hospital in Auckland. I emigrated to Perth with my husband in 1985 and commenced working at St.John of God Hospital in Subiaco. I have also worked casually at King Edward Family Birthing Centre and Osborne Park Community Hospital.

We have one son born in 1987. In my time at St.John of God Hospital I started taking antenatal education classes in 1988, which lead to the initiation of my own sessions from 2001 on, aided and abetted by some of my colleagues. I had the feeling that families were making decisions that were not always well informed and did not always have the outcomes they expected. I am also available to de-brief families who have had birthing experiences that did not meet their expectations, for whatever reasons.

My philosophy around birth and babies is that women are not stupid and, given the correct information and skills, they will make good decisions for themselves and their families.

I am offering sessions in your own home on preparing for Birth & Parenting. I understand that in today's busy world available birthing classes do not always fit in with you and your partner's schedule. My informal sessions are geared towards providing both of you with the information you require to have a fulfilling experience birthing your baby and entering into the exciting world of parenting.

The sessions I am offering will be to groups of parents, up to 6 people at a time - Get together with your friends at your convenience or have a private session. We will discuss your hopes and expectations, your understanding of the birth process, your understanding of the choices available to you in your chosen birthing method and possible ways that will enable you to exercise these choices.
