DEATH CLAIMS GERMAN WRITER
Henry K. O. von Konsky Ends Picturesque Career in San Jose

Henry K. O von Konsky, who was widely known in this city as a German journalist and novelist, died Tuesday evening in the O'Connor Sanatorium, San Jose, from a complication of disorders. He had been at Los Gatos for an attach of asthma, and was stricken with paralysis a week ago when he was removed to San Jose. The news of his death was received by this numerous friends with sorrow, for he was highly esteemed by many and enjoyed lasting friendships to the end.

Mr. von Konsky had a varied and rather picturesque career. He was born 59 years ago in Schlesien, Germany, and after finishing his education at the outbreak of the Franco-Prussian war he entered the army of his country and served as a junior office, seeing active service which ended with the victorious march of the Prussians through Paris.

Without waiting to complete his term in the army he left home for the United States, and settled in a Nevada mining town. Thence he went to Fredericksburg, Texas, where he owned and edited a German paper. He also worked on the staff of a German paper in Cincinnati until he came to California about 15 years ago. He was editor of the California Demokrat thirteen years, and in that time he corresponded for foreign and Eastern publications and wrote two novels, "Valeska" and "Die Erbin des Prospectors," in the language of his native land. The latter story as an account of his own life while a young man. His father was in the Council of the German Emperor, in the office of Ober Financerichtsrat, or minister of finance.

He leaves a widow and four sons, Cleveland H., Harold F., Walter H.E. and Adolph C. C. von Konsky. The funeral will be held from his late home, 4058 Twenty-sixth street, Friday afternoon.

Harry is given the more formal name Henry in this obituary notice, which is probably an Americanization of the proper name Heinrich. Middle Initials are given as K.O., short for Karl Otto.
