Below are pictures after the first day of renovation. In all of these images, the colours are a bit off given the odd artificial light that was used, but hopefully you'll get the idea.

Here's the state of the new bathtub after day 1. The contractors used saws and hammers to gouge out brick so they could lay the new pipes, which are now behind the concrete filler that is visible in this picture. What a noisy mess! The front face of the tub in the lowest part of the picture should get bricked up later today, and tiled on Thursday or Friday.

The glass bricks have been covered with newspaper to protect them. The plumbing is in place in the position where the new vanity will go in the lower left hand corner of the picture. The new power points and switch for the downlights over the new vanity is in the upper middle portion of the image.

What a mess! This is the corner where the new toilet will go. The bare wall where the old vanity was located was plastered yesterday. The floor will be prepared for tiling later today.

The new vanity is being being "stored" outside on the verandah while awaiting installation. The vanity may not get installed until Friday or possibly Monday. Note the glass bricks. If I'd been a bit quicker with the digital camera, I would have gotten a picture of the large bob-tail lizard that was poking around this side of the house earlier today. He was almost one foot long James leaves strawberries for him and his friends. Hopefully he'll find the one I left just around the corner. In case you're wondering, the jug mounted on the wall in the middle of the picture is a watering can that collects rain water that runs off from the gutters. The jug lifts off the wall, and we use the water in the garden. Just behind the watering jug is the water heater, which is mounted outside as is customary in Australia.
