Story Title
by Carrie Harris

When you've trusted
Laid your heart on the line
Believed the best in him
Believed he was the one

When your heart is torn
You feel betrayed
Your best friend has let you down
In the name of love

I can't do this any more
I can't let my heart be torn again
There's so little of it left

Thank God He will never leave
Thank God He can be trusted
Lovers hurt, love hurts
But God's love remains true

A note from the author

This subject is still too raw to write much, but I wrote this poem after I found out that the one I love doesn't love me. We had been dating for months, and this whole time he was putting on a charade. The last verse is drawn from the fact that I know God loves me, and He will never leave me or forsake me, on that I can rely.
