Look with both eyes
by Celeste Smith

There is no right or wrong
But thinking makes it so
For a terrorist is not just that
But a freedom fighter too

For water is not just life but
Death and death is not just
An end but a beginning too

Because a friend in your eyes
Is an enemy to another and
Your enemy is someone’s lover

For the sun is not anything special
That gives life to all you know
But just a star, a ball of fire
That blinds you if you look

Because obedience is also slavery
Defending yourself is murder
And freedom is the right
To say two and two makes five

For an open mind draws no line
And a closed one discovers nothing
Family is not just about caring
But a trap holding you until
It’s too late to fulfil your desires

Because everything has two sides
A coin with its head and tail
A story with two versions
Love with its partner hatred
Lies disguised as the truth

It is no right to force
All to believe one thing
As it is no right to force
One to believe something.

A note from the author

There are always two sides to everything. When you are faced with negativity find the crack in it that lets the light shine through.
