Wisdom
by Dianna Brown

I gonna share some of the wisdom my 50+ years has garnered me.

1) SERVE GOD! Nothing in this world can out give Him, or make you happier.

2) MAKE SURE WHOEVER YOU MARRY IS ALSO YOUR BEST FRIEND. My husband and I married 23 years ago because we both had children and needed help raising them. I was NOT "in love" with him and he was NOT "in love" with me. We shared some common interests. We liked each others company. NOW-after the 23 years-he is the second most precious thing in my life (God is first).

3) DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF! God is in control. He knows what is going to happen and our job is to allow him to work.

"Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness. And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching with all perseverance and supplication for all saints" (Ephesians 6:11-18)

This particular section of scripture just knocks my socks off. We Christians are prepared for battle. We are dressed in the Armour of God. Our middle section is Girded with truth. You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. The truth is Jesus died for us. We can live eternally. That truth is wrapped around you to protect your vital organs from attack.

Our chest is covered with the Breastplate of Righteousness. A breast plate is a heavy piece of metal. It makes you stand erect and up right. Righteousness means right standing--unbent and confident in who and what you are.

You feet are shod with the gospel of the good news.
Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!
Every where we walk we should be spreading the good news. If by no other way with the spring in our step and the joy on our faces.

We carry the Sheild of Faith. It stops the darts and arrows and such that the enemy throws from reaching us. It is a full body sheild. We can stand firmly behind it and know that no attack of the enemy will pentrate it.

The Helmet of Salvation covers our head. Our head protects our brain. It is the part of our body that tells us where to go, what to do, what to say, how to act. Our salvation is what protects our minds. Our minds enable us to understand the will of God and bring the rest of our bodies under the will of God.

In our hand is the Sword of the Spirit. Such a wonderful weapon. A very sharp instrument. The sword of the spirit which is the word of God can do one of two things. It can hack someone to pieces--like the enemy--or do some precision surgery to fix a problem. It can be used either way.

Our final protection against the enemy is Prayer. I did a preacher on prayer, but one thing I did not mention in that prayer was that prayer is our firepower--our ammo. It stops the attack dead. Always pray. Constantly. Practice the presence of God.
