Words in red

As I walked a lonely road
With choices all along
I often knew not what to do
Or what new road to take.
There were those who said to me
To take the easy path
And then there were those who said
To Always pray and fast.
I knew not which way to go
I searched for many a year
Then one day I got a book
With a lot of words in red.
These word in red
Rang true within my heart
They said things like I had never heard
I am the way, the truth and the light
Now that just seemed right
He who follows me will never see the dark
But spend all eternity walking those streets of gold.
Now these were words I understood and they helped me quite a lot
They even said to pick up a cross and follow him.
With arms so full of a cross I have trouble carrying an offense
And this is really nice.
This is all I have to say about the Book that I was given
When you’re down and out and feeling all abused,
The words in red will set you right and show you where to tread.
