Yeah, tho I walk through the Valley
by Dianna Brown

Yeah, tho I walk through the valley of the shawdow of death I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me.

My boss recently had her daughter murdered. I ran into her yesterday. It broke my heart. You can see the pain and horror in her eyes. She asked me a couple of questions and me being me, I realised that the answers I gave her would work for one of my "preaching" blogs.

  1. Why? - I don't know why God allows things like this to happen. There is an ultimate purpose in everything that occurs and we who walk this mortal coil will not know the reasons until we see jesus face to face.
  2. What did I do to deserve this? What did my daughter do to deserve this? - Absolutely, nothing. sometimes bad things happen to good people.
  3. How do I get my faith back? - By a conscience decision to walk a faith walk again.

The main principle I see at work here is a spiritual one. There are two forces at work in this world. You can call them God and Satan, Ying and Yang. Huff and Puff. That doesn't matter. What matters is what they cause. Because of my beliefs I choose to call them God and Satan. From that perspective, let me explain why I believe the murder of my boss' daughter happened.

Satan comes to do three things - KILL, STEAL, and DESTROY. His ultimate goal is the destruction of God's will in your life. He doesn't want you to serve God. He doesn't want you to go to heaven. He wants you to be out of God's will and hellbound. The work that my boss and I do here at the group home is surely a slap in Satan's face. We help people get mentally stable. Mentally stable people will hear the truth and the truth will set them free. My boss and I undermine Satan's work. He doesn't like that. So he attacks. He fooled the man that killed the daughter. By that act, he sent my boss into a spiral of destruction. She doubts her faith. She questions. IF she continues to allow Satan to work, there is no telling what destruction will happen.

God comes to do three things--Give LIFE, BLESSINGS, and JOY. How can the death of a child give joy, life and blessings? Oh, by letting people see that God's will matters most in your life. By saying how His strength is getting you through it. By not stopping that work which he has set before you. All things work together for good for them that serve the Lord.

Is it easy? No way. But Christians aren't promised easy. We are promised help. We are promised hope. We are promised relief. We are promised the chance to see the lost loved ones again one day. These are the things that my boss needs to focus on. These are the things I focus on when I get down. The promise of that which is yet to come. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. We walk by faith not by sight.

God in His mercy will provide the light at the end of the tunnel for all who grieve and are weary.

A note from the author

Favorite Bible Tidbit - The meaning of a napkin.

When the disciples entered the tomb on Easter morning, the grave clothes were where His feet had laid, except for the naptkin that covered his face. It was folded and laid to the side. In Jewish tradition, when you visit somewhere and have a good time and intend to return, you fold your napkin and lay it to the side. The disciples would have seen this and know immediately that He would return.
