Monkey Planet Part 6
Emma Monkey
Hi all, Well have I got news for you!! After I sent you that letter last night, Tess arrived at the bottom of my tree, waving a piece of paper around and demanding to know where I’d got it from.I was all confused cos she had the paper not me, and how should I know where it’d come from. Til I realised that it was the piece of paper that had fallen out of Bob’s fur when I cut it, I must’ve thrown it at her in my rage. I told her where it had come from and she seemed rather confused, and said that I had to come with her to Chief Monkeyness Officer Wally’s office to find out what was going on. She marched off down the street, with me running to keep up behind her all the while I’m asking what I’ve done wrong and why I’ve got to see the boss. She just kept saying that there was trouble afoot- I thought she was a bit of a drama queen cos it was only a bit of paper. After what seemed like forever she stopped at a huge tree in the middle of a big field and shouted up to the branches. An old looking monkey peered down, not looking too impressed at the intrusion and mumbled summat about never getting any peace. He eventually came down to see us, and Tess curtsied to him, and when she saw that I hadn’t curtsied she gave me a clout on the back of the head so I curtsied too. Turns out he was Chief Monkeyness Officer Wally and he wasn’t impressed with me judging by the scowl on his face. Tess whispered summat to him about the note she’d found, and he whispered summat back and then asked me where the note had come from. I told him how I’d found it when I’d cut Bob’s fur, and I think he was gonna lecture me on why monkeys shouldn’t use scissors but Tess stopped him and said we needed to start looking. I was really confused as you can imagine, cos no one was actually telling me anything and yet now I was supposed to start looking for summat, and no one knew what we were looking for. Very strange. So anyway, we started looking round Chief Wally’s office, and I managed to stay close enough to Tess and Chief Wally to gather that the note had been from Monkeyness Officer Drew, and that he was gonna plant summat in the office that would mean that Chief Wally would lose his job, so we had to look for summat that was really bad for a monkey to have. After a few minutes Tess screamed, and pointed up to one of the top branches. There was a couple of evil eyes looking down at us, and then we heard a hissing noise. My hairs stood up on the back of my neck and my knees started shaking. It was the meanest looking cat I’d ever seen. Well cats are banned on Monkey Planet, and if anyone saw a cat in Chief Wally’s office he’d be thrown off Monkey Planet in disgrace. None of us wanted to try and catch the cat, cos none of us were that brave, so for a few minutes we just stood there frozen in fear while the cat stared and hissed at us. When the cat started climbing down the tree I found my legs and ran off as quick as I could, not daring to look behind me to see what Tess and the Chief were doing. After running for about 10 minutes I found myself at the entrance to the zoo, and had a brilliant idea, even if I do say so myself. I went to the Human enclosure and started talking to them, much to the amazement of the other monkeys that were there cos they’d never heard any monkey speaking human before. I finally found a Human that liked cats, and unbolted the door to let him out. We both had to run really fast to get away from the Zoo Keeper who was pretty annoyed that one of his exhibits was running loose, but we managed to get to the Chief’s office before the Keeper caught up with us. The cat was sitting at the bottom of the tree, licking it’s lips and cleaning it’s paws. There was no sign of Tess or the Chief, and I was really scared that the cat had ate them. The Zoo Keeper came running up and was about to grab the Human in a net when he saw the cat and froze. We both watched in amazement as the Human calmly walked up to the cat and picked it up, cradling it in his arms and whispering to it. The cat started purring and seemed quite content to just lay there in the Human’s arms. Then we heard a noise behind us, and Tess and the Chief came out from behind a bush, where they’d been hiding, and then Monkeyness Officer Drew arrived, escorted by two soldier monkeys. Chief Wally told Drew that he was fired, and would be evicted from Monkey Planet along with Bob when they found him. Tess was promoted to Monkeyness Officer in Drew’s place. The Human and the cat were allowed to live together in their own (top security) enclosure in the zoo. And me?? Well I did fail the Monkeyness test, but Chief Wally said that if I hadn’t have been part Human the cat would never have been caught, so since Monkey Planet owed me a debt of gratitude I could keep my Monkey status without fear of ridicule over being too Human. I’m staying here tonight, cos we’re having a bit of a party, and I’ll be flying back tomorrow. Can’t wait to see you all, I’ve missed you so much!! | |||||
