Unique
by Emma Monkey

Ever wake up and wish that you weren't you
That the ground would open up beneath you
That you'd turn into a better person
That you'd learn how to love
How to laugh
And how to care
More than you do now
Like the other people you know
Cos they seem perfect in every way
And you feel inferior
Almost flawed
Like something's missing from your DNA
And you can never be the person you think you want to be
The person you strive to be
You can never be like them
But you keep wishing and hoping anyway
Cos you hate being you
Then one day you wake up
And you see that others feel the same about you
They feel inferior
They feel flawed
Cos they're not you
And they want to be
They strive to be
They can never be like you
But they keep wishing and hoping anyway
Cos they hate being them
Then you see you're not flawed
And there's nothing missing
You're you
You're unique
And you're loved
