Temptation
by Jasper Braxton

She stared and stared at the temptation
Eventually she held back, moved away
Next she thought and thought of the temptation
Then busied her self to forget

Still, the temptation lingered

The last thought in her sleeping mind
The first memory of her waking thought

Oh it would be so easy to give in
Sometimes she was so close
Just oh so close to surrendering

She stared and stared at the temptation
She couldn’t yield because there
Would be no going back if she did

Secrets don’t stay secrets for long

It would break her world
Devastate the people around her

She looked at them, her self, the temptation
And then she made her decision.

A note from the author

Believe it or not the inspiration for this poem started from choosing whether or not to eat a tim tam hehe
