Two kinds of trust
by Jasper Braxton

There are two kinds of trust:

One kind is when I hear,
"Try this?"
And it feels just fine.
I say, "Ok."
And I just try it.
Maybe it works out.
Maybe not.
But it all feels comfortable.

The other kind is when I hear,
"Try this?"
And it feels quite wrong.
I say, "NO!"
But then I say,
"Ok, I'll trust you and try it anyway."
If it doesn't work out
I may trust less.

Two different kinds of leap of faith:

The first one is for those times
When I won't do a certain thing
Unless I get help
From a trusted friend.

The second one is for those times
When my intuition
Has led me astray
And I need to find the strength
Inside myself
To do something I don't want to do.

Both kinds of trust are needed.

I've got to remember
To give myself permission
To work with them both.
