The Long Road
by Stacey M. Bleyle

The long road was darkened
Not a soul in sight
My heart raced
Deep in the night

Sounds of the wild
Came from all around
The loudest of all
Came from underground

The Earth shook hard
As the thing came near
I was terrified
Completely gripped with fear

Out of the hardened Earth
What did appear
The devil or a man,
Carrying a spear

Looking deep into my eyes
I tried hard to defy
The evil grin he bestowed
For my soul he tried to own

Promises of granduer
Riches and fame
All a bunch of lies
All part of his game

I prayed to the heavens above
To be lead from this evil plan
To be saved
From the devil man

The clouds parted
The moon shone through
Angels descended
And sparks flew

What happened next
I am not sure
For the light was bright
Awesome and pure

The devil man
Was sent back to hell
From whence he came
The eternal cell

I was lead down the road
Protected you see
From all of hells evil
And to God the Glory be

As you travel this road
As many so often do
Remember this
God loves you too
