Beyond the grace of God
by S. Viddaurri

... then we shall rise, and view ourselves with clearer eyes
in that calm region where no night
can hide us from each other's sight
Arise!
for earth's destruction you do all despise
our pitiful world of rock-built cities
bidding nations quake
are born of all eternal pitfalls
that men themselves, in their failings make
comprehending not everlasting time
that the past changes not
unless change be wrought
men are in vain, glory seekers, sublime
they suffer no worthy change, in limbo they are caught
in their own decay, never learning, never taught.
