A. H. Almaas is the pen name of A. Hameed Ali. A. Hameed Ali originated the Diamond Approach. He was born in Kuwait. He came to the USA to study physics at the University of California. About to receive his doctorate, he abandoned science when he found it was not able to answer the deepest questions of life. Studying psychology, and at the same time returning to a life-long love of spirituality, led him to appreciate what he calls 'Essence', a human being's intrinsic nature. Understanding the relationship between Essence and ego by using, in part, the inquiring mind of the scientist, has led him to integrate the arena of psychology with that of spirituality. His books are acknowledged for their ground breaking synthesis of
psychological and spiritual traditions.
