XK Falcon
Released 11th September 1960 , the XK was an American Falcon with the steering
wheel moved to the Right hand side ! Although it was a hit with the Australian
public it proved to be a little to fragile for the Australian conditions
.

XL Falcon
Released in Australia before its American brother , the XL was a
face lift of the XK . Released August 1962 , it stole the glory by beating
the EJ Holden onto the showroom floor .
The XL also made its presence felt on the track by winning the 1962
Armstrong 500 (Which went on to become the Bathurst 500)
Available as 4 door sedan , Deluxe sedan ,Futura Sedan , Station Wagon
, Deluxe Station wagon , Utility Deluxe utility , Panel van and Deluxe
Panel Van . The Futura model is introduced . Also the Squire wagon
with its fake wood grain panels of fiberglass decorating the sides .

XM Falcon
February 1964 saw the release of the XM Falcon . In general a stronger
car all round with modified suspension , axles engine mounts etc. . The
XM also saw the introduction of electric wipers to replace the Vacuum operated
units .
A new engine was available and numerous changes were made to the rest
of the car including the introduction of the 2 door 'Hardtop ' .

XP Falcon
February 1965 saw the release of the XP Falcon and the last of the original
styled Falcons . This model saw the Futura and Squire wagons dropped in
favor for the New Fairmont model which was Fords answer to Holdens Premier
model

XR Falcon
September 1966 was the unveiling of the ALL new bigger body style for the
Falcon . The new XR was marketed as the Mustang Bred Falcon . It featured
improvements like V8 engines , hydraulic tappets , disc brakes
(on some models) but it was still heavily designed around the American
Falcon .
May 1967 also saw the introduction of the FALCON GT (See GT
Page )

XT Falcon
April 1968 was the introduction date of the XT . Although the XT
looked like the XR it was a different car under the bonnet . 3 new motors
(2 sixes and the V8 ) were used , the brakes were improved , synchromesh
was now standard on the manual transmission and many more improvements
were made .

XW Falcon
June 1969 and Ford rolled out the XW Falcon . Based heavily on the XT it
looks like a totally new body with the new tail lights and headlight arrangement
, recessed rear screen and a new dashboard .It was also to see the introduction
of the 351 V8 and the now legendary GTHO ( See GT Page ) .

November 1970 and the more refined XY rolled off the production line
.Modified grille and tail light treatments made it instantly recognisable
as different to its brother the XW. The 250 Cu in is now under the bonnet
, the Phase III GTHO ( see GT Page ) is ready to roll off the line and
Ford introduce the RARE 4 wheel drive ute (See end of this section
for more details )

Although tough in the bush , the 4 WD was a thirsty and uncomfortable
car to drive , It was dropped after only 432 were made . Most of these
